Agentic AI and Commerce

Source

The idea

Build autonomous agents that execute complex work such as calendar management and deal negotiation.

Why this is interesting

  • The source’s examples, calendar management and deal negotiation, have very different stakes. Scheduling serves assistants and busy professionals; negotiation serves procurement or sales teams and commits money. The buyer depends on which one is chosen.
  • Agentic software is a global category, and the source gives no India-specific condition here. The central adoption assumption is that businesses will let software act on their behalf. That needs permissions, approval steps and a clear record of what the agent did, none of which the source addresses.

Possible starting points

01

Bounded scheduling agent

Handle scheduling for one role with clear rules and let the person approve anything outside those rules.

02

Procurement quote collection

Collect and compare supplier quotes for routine purchases, leaving the commitment to a buyer.

Questions to answer

  1. What is the agent allowed to do without approval, and what happens when it gets that wrong?
  2. Can the business audit every action afterwards in a way its finance or compliance team will accept?
