Launch vehicles made space accessible; laser communications are making it networked.

Source thesis

DCVC discusses optical inter-satellite communications as infrastructure for larger spacecraft constellations. The thesis concerns connecting space systems into networks as launch access expands, rather than treating cheaper launch alone as sufficient infrastructure.
