Connected quality management

The idea
Standardise inspection.
Why this is interesting
- Kae lists connected, sensor-led quality management as a way to standardise inspection on shorter timelines. Elsewhere the essay says manual-heavy production leaves brands with inconsistent quality.
- The source names the category without a user or buyer. Read against the rest of the essay, the person who feels inconsistent quality may be the brand receiving goods as much as the factory producing them. That is an interpretation to test, not a source claim. Inspection tooling itself is portable.
Possible starting points
Brand-side incoming inspection
Help an online-first brand record and compare inspection results across the several factories it uses.
In-line check for one defect
Automate one recurring visual or measurement check on a line where rejects or returns already have a cost someone tracks.
Questions to answer
- Who pays for a quality failure today, the factory through rework or the brand through returns, and does that decide the buyer?
- Will factories share inspection data with brand clients, or treat it as a negotiating risk?
